Uganda's army chief and the president's son, Muhuji Kainerugaba, has demanded ₹1 billion (Rs 9,000 crore) from Turkey and the country's "most beautiful woman" to be his wife. He warned that if the demand was not met, diplomatic relations with Turkey would be severed and Turkish airlines could be banned. "If Turkey does not resolve our problems, relations will be severed in 30 days," Kainerugaba wrote on X. "Either they demand us or we will shut down their embassy," he said. He advised Ugandans to avoid travelling to Turkey and offered to send 100,000 troops in support of Israel. However, there has been no official reaction from Turkey in this regard. In the post, Kainerugaba accused Turkey of benefiting from infrastructure, port and airport projects in Somalia, while Uganda bore the burden of fighting terrorist organizations such as al-Shabaab. On the same basis, he demanded $1 billion. Even now, Kainerugaba has made many controversial posts on social media. He threatened to behead opposition leader Bobby Wine, which sparked a lot of controversy. However, he later called it a joke and apologized. Meanwhile, Kanerugaba removed the X account a few days ago. He then announced his comeback by writing 'I'm back' and saying that he would shake the world. On his return, he ordered the security agencies to immediately apprehend anyone seen in an army uniform. He threatened to arrest an American diplomat if he did not salute him. The 50-year-old is considered a possible successor to his father and President Yoweri Museveni. However, Museveni has denied this. However, many political analysts believe that he is slowly consolidating himself in politics and may contender for the presidency in the future. According to reports, Museveni has been in power in Uganda since 1986, in such a situation, if a son is considered a successor, it sends a message that power is being transferred to the same family. This is not the first time he has made such a demand, offering 100 cows for marrying Maloney. In 2022, he offered to give 100 cows for marrying Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. At the time, he said that if Italy rejected the proposal, Rome would have to be occupied. His father, President Museveni, had to apologise for the remarks. He said his army could capture Nairobi in less than two weeks. His father and President Yoweri Museveni had to apologize to Kenya after the statement.
