'PAK players did sledging, we answered with the game': Gujarati cricketer Vedanta reveals the secrets of the dressing room, the players who watched them on TV got calls!

Pakistani players were constantly sledging. They were trying to lower our morale by reminding us of the defeat we had in the Asia Cup, but we responded to them not with words but with sports. These are the words of Vedant Trivedi, a player of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup-winning Indian team and a cricketer from Ahmedabad. Gujju player Vedant Trivedi, who returned from bringing laurels to the country on the Zimbabwe pitch, had an exclusive conversation with Divya Bhaskar. Read the words of Vedanta's mind in Vedanta's own words. Every cricketer has a dream to wear a blue jersey with his name written on it on the field and get a name for himself in the Indian team. It was a very proud moment for me when my name was announced in the World Cup squad. Before the name for the squad was to be announced, I was constantly checking on social media and elsewhere to see if the team was announced or not. As soon as the team was announced and my name came up in it, I was so happy because the dream I had had eight years ago has come true. I was so happy that I couldn't sleep the whole night. I didn't score very well in the first two matches, but the way I worked hard in practice and in the nets, I was confident that I would play good cricket when the team needed me and that was a good performance against Pakistan. Ever since we started this tournament, VVS Laxman and Hrishikesh Sir have told us that every match is the same for us. No match is big or small for us as a team. We were in the same zone in the match against Pakistan and played the same way. We gave our best in this tournament. When we spoke to Sachin Tendulkar, he said that you don't think too much about the outcome. Trust your strength because it is natural that there will be pressure in all matches. This pressure comes because you have played very well in the past, so people have high expectations from you. Just believe in yourself and you will win. In the match against Pakistan, when we won the toss and we came to bat, Hrishikesh sir told me, 'Vedanta, if we lose wickets, you have to take the reins. When I was paddled up in the dressing room when the opening order wickets started falling, there was nothing else going on in my mind because it is very important for you to be relaxed before getting on the ground. I was just laughing and joking with my teammates. The Pakistani players were constantly sledging but we believed that we would respond to the Pakistani players by playing our best game and not with their mouths. All the players thought that we would not give any answer by talking to each other. We will respond to them by creating the same fire in our speech in the game. The Pakistani players were constantly trying to remind us of our defeat in the Asia Cup final in this match but we kept all these things aside and focused on the current game. During the match against Pakistan, our strategy was the same that wickets have fallen, in such a situation, the more we stay on the wicket, the more beneficial it will be because the 50-over game is a very long game. During this time, Vihaan and I had the same thing at the crease that we just have to stand at the crease, give runs, you will become so there will be pressure on them automatically. After that, when I came to play the pot, I had the same conversation with him that you play your natural game, I am standing on one side. I will keep converting any bad ball into runs. When we won the World Cup in Zimbabwe, the fans in the stadium cheered loudly, and when we were going out, the fans came to us to get autographs, it was a different experience. After the final match, we were given medals and trophies, many celebrities including Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted us through phone calls and messages. Sachin Tendulkar messaged VVS Laxman. He wrote in the message that he liked the way the team showed focus and dedication. The team has played a quality game. I liked these words of Sachin Tendulkar very much. Virat Kohli also said that you have played very well and solid, play with confidence in yourself in the future as well. When Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill lifted the World Cup trophy in 2018, I thought that I will lift the trophy one day and when our team won and lifted the trophy, I remembered that day. My dream came true and I got to lift the same trophy with pride. When we came to India, we had a Dubai halt where Indians welcomed us and congratulated everyone. When we landed at the Mumbai airport from there, there was also a cake cut. When we came home, we were welcomed very well by family members, friends and fans. Among today's players, I consider Shubhaman Gill as my idol and am also following him because I have been watching him play since the Under-19s. I may have started playing and learning cricket by watching Virat Kohli but I am following him after seeing what Shubhaman Gill is doing as a youngster at the international level these days. His way of working, his passion for the game and the level of focus is very high. He is a down-to-earth person. I used to follow Virat Kohli when I was younger. I used to copy the way Virat Kohli hit shots, so I saw Virat Kohli's timing and I saw the same thing in my game. When a player enters the game, he first believes in his hard work in the nets and then on luck and God. No matter how hard you work, God will only get what you have to offer. Virat Kohli also says the same thing so I follow it. When I come out to play I am in my zone as much as possible because the more you know yourself, the better the performance. The more calm you do on the ground, the better you can perform. I follow what my mind is telling me. The journey from the home pitch to the international pitch was very interesting for me because ever since I started playing cricket, my only dream was to play for India. It is indeed a very proud moment for me to be here today. As you do well at any stage in cricket, your self-belief automatically increases. As you reach that scale, you learn more with new skills and experience. You can improve your cricket from the gym. Strength can also be activated, but swimming keeps all the muscles very active and recovery is equally good. So swimming is equally beneficial along with the gym. This can also lead to better fitness and recovery. My diet plan is the same as before, but the better your fitness is, the more you benefit. The diet that I used to follow at the state level has also been followed at the international level. Sweets are very dear to me, but because of the sugar, when we go on the field, they are very tiring, so I controlled it. Not only that, I don't take sugar at all whenever I have a tour or a match. Who is the 18-year-old Gujju who dusted the PAK?: Seeing Kohli, the Indian under-19 cricket team won a grand victory on Zimbabwe soil by defeating the British in the final of the World Cup. However, the Super Six stage match against Pakistan was much tougher for the Indian team than the final match as Vaibhav Suryavanshi, captain Ayush Mhatre and Aaron George returned to the pavilion cheaply. In such a situation, the 18-year-old Gujju player, sitting in the dugout, is sent to the crease to take charge of the team in the middle order. After that, he scored a decisive 68 runs by washing the Pakistani bowlers. In the end, India won, after which every Indian had only one name on their lips...... Vedanta Trivedi. Vedant Trivedi, who hails from Ahmedabad, started his cricket coaching career at the age of 10. Virat Kohli is a role model for Vedanta. Today, Vedanta has seen his dream of becoming a cricketer come true in front of millions of fans. (Read the full report)
