Mumbai, October 2026: Following a successful theatrical run in Bengal, Windows Production’s ‘Bohurupi – The Golden Dacoit’ is all set to reach audiences across India and international markets. Directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, the film will release nationally and internationally on October 23, 2026. Rooted in Bengal’s cultural identity, local milieu and compelling storytelling, the film is now poised to expand beyond its home market and connect with a wider audience.
The film has recorded an impressive gross collection of ₹5.44 crore and a net collection of ₹4.81 crore within its first seven days in Bengal. Following this response from regional audiences, the makers are preparing to take the film to different parts of India and international markets.
Playing a key role in this expansion, Hombale Films will oversee the film’s international distribution. Known for backing culturally rooted cinematic successes such as KGF and Kantara, Hombale Films’ association marks a significant milestone for Windows Production. The partnership will provide an opportunity to introduce a story deeply rooted in Bengal’s cultural landscape to audiences across the world.
Starring Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Jisshu Sengupta, ‘Bohurupi – The Golden Dacoit’ follows the intense conflict between a notorious dacoit and a determined police officer committed to bringing him to justice. Blending action, suspense and Bengal’s distinctive cultural identity, the film combines the authenticity of its regional setting with a compelling cinematic appeal.
Speaking about the audience response and the upcoming national and international release, directors Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee said in a joint statement:
“It is always special when a story you have created finds a place in the hearts of audiences. ‘Bohurupi – The Golden Dacoit’ is a film deeply rooted in the soil of Bengal. It has been immensely gratifying to see audiences embrace its characters and the world of the film. The response in Bengal has greatly encouraged us ahead of its national and international release on October 23. We hope audiences in other regions connect with the film in the same way. As Windows completes 25 years, taking a story so deeply connected to Bengal to a wider audience holds special significance for us.”
As Windows Production celebrates 25 years since its establishment in 2026, the release marks another step forward in its commitment to taking regional stories beyond geographical boundaries. The national and international rollout of ‘Bohurupi – The Golden Dacoit’ will not only mark a new chapter in the film’s journey but also create an opportunity to bring stories from Bengal to a wider global audience.
