The court has given a very strict and important verdict in the Chakchari Bhayali gang rape case in Vadodara. In the case of rape of a minor during Navratri in the year 2024, 5 accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment i.e. till the last breath. The court has also ordered to pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the victim.
The incident took place during the Navratri festival.
On the night of October 4, 2024, the minor was returning after playing Garba during Navratri. She was passing through an unknown place with her friend when she was intercepted by the accused. The court noted that Navratri is a festival of strength and feminine dignity and the serious incident with the minor during such a holy festival cannot be taken lightly.
3 accused committed rape, 2 absconded
According to the details of the case, Saif Ali Mehndi Hasan Banjara and Ajmal Sattar Banjara fled from the spot, while Munna Abbas Banjara, Mumtaz alias Aftab Subedar Banjara and Shahrukh Kismat Ali Banjara raped the minor.
The minor's mobile phone was also looted
After the rape, the accused also looted the minor's mobile phone. However, one of the accused picked up the phone after receiving a call on the mobile. The police then reached the accused on the basis of the location of the mobile and other technical evidence.
Sentence based on Ishaan Kumar verdict
The court has decided to impose a strict punishment in the case keeping in mind the Ishaan Kumar judgement. The court noted that women play an important role in shaping society and an incident like rape of such a girl is very serious. The court has made it clear in its judgment that such serious acts cannot be carried out when campaigns like 'Beti Bachao' are going on in Gujarat and strict action is necessary against such accused.
The court observed that the evidence was too strong
The court verdict also noted that the evidence presented by the police in the case was very strong. The police filed a chargesheet of about 6,000 pages in the case. Technical evidence, witnesses and other evidence collected during the investigation proved to be important in the case.
A fine of Rs 50,000 has been imposed on each of the accused.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on each of the five accused along with life imprisonment for life. At the same time, the victim has been ordered to pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh.
Justice for the victim in 22 months
In this case, 3 public prosecutors were appointed by the state Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi. After the completion of the investigation and court proceedings, the victim has got justice in about 22 months.
