After Surat, Vadodara Medical College has been accused of ragging and physical and mental torture against the doctor.

Vadodara: State Health Minister Praful Pansheriya paid a surprise visit to SSG Hospital and Government Medical College in Vadodara yesterday. During the visit, he had a direct interaction with medical students and resident doctors.

 

During this interaction, the resident doctors of the psychiatric department presented a very serious complaint in writing against Dr. Chirag Barot of the department before Health Minister Praful Pansheriya. Very serious complaints were made against Dr. Chirag Barot in writing. In this complaint, about 18 doctors, including R1, R2, R3 and senior resident of the medical college, alleged that they were being physically and mentally harassed by Dr. Barot.

Serious allegations of ragging, obscene messages and intimidation
The representations made by the doctors have made shocking allegations of ragging, sending obscene messages, making inappropriate demands even after working hours, asking for hostel room numbers and making obscene remarks during ongoing work. Apart from this, the resident doctors are also being threatened to fail in thesis and examinations

Immediate transfer order
Health Minister Praful Panseria took the representation of resident doctors of the psychiatric department very seriously and took an immediate tough decision. Soon after the presentation, action was taken by the State Health and Family Welfare Department with immediate effect. Accordingly, Dr. Chirag Barot has been transferred from Government Medical College, Vadodara to Government Medical College, Bhavnagar with immediate effect

Misconduct: Health Minister
Taking a tough stand on the matter, Health Minister Praful Panseria said, "There will be no compromise on the safety, dignity and peace of mind of students and doctors. The state government has a 'zero tolerance' policy against ragging, physical-mental abuse or misconduct."
