The police have initiated strict action against elements involved in illegal moneylender business in Valsad city. A shocking complaint has been lodged at the Valsad city police station, in which it has come to light that a woman moneylender has been subjected to mental harassment by threatening the girl even after charging several times the interest on the money borrowed from her. She lives in the City Palace area of the city. A young woman named Bhaviniben Patel, who was working as a GRD, was in need of money in January 2025. He had taken Rs 27,000 in cash from Nilamben Nileshbhai Surti, a resident of Nankwada area of Valsad. The interest rate on this amount was fixed at 33 per cent per month. According to the complaint, Nilamben forcibly snatched a blank cheque of Rs 50,000 signed by the Bank of Baroda from the girl. The girl had so far paid a lump sum of Rs 91,000 as interest, but the demands of the moneylender continued. When the girl was unable to give more money, Nilamben hurled nasty words over the phone. Not only that, he also threatened to 'drag and kill' the girl and her sister after coming home. Tired of this constant mental torture, the girl finally approached the police. The police have registered a case against Nilamben Nileshbhai Surti under the Indian Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Gujarat Finance Creditors Act and further investigation is underway.
