In protest against the privatization of crematoriums by The Vadodara Corporation, the people of Chhani village today let the administration of the crematorium remain with the village trust. With such a demand, the people of the village took out a huge rally this evening with posters like Save Muktidham and dhol-nagara. A large number of people from the village joined the rally that took place in different lanes of Chhani village. In protest against the decision of the municipality, the villagers have called for a bandh in Chhani village on Sunday. The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has handed over the administration of 31 crematoriums in the city, including the crematorium in Chhani village, to private entities. Which is being strongly opposed by the people of Chhani village. Two days ago, there was a clash between the villagers, including the trustee of the Dharmada Daan Trust of chhani village and former BJP chairman Satish Patel, and Congress councillors Harish Patel and Jahan Desai over the wood of the crematorium. However, after the administration of the crematorium in Chhani village, run by the Dharmada Trust, was taken over by an agency appointed by the corporation, the trustees, including the trust's head Satish Patel, decided not to administer the crematorium and there was a protest by the Congress councillors for donating the wood, roofs and other items lying in the trust's crematorium to the crematoriums of the surrounding villages. Meanwhile, today, the people of Chhani village took out a huge rally demanding that the crematorium be allowed to remain in the trust of the village and protested against the decision of the municipality. The villagers said that the contract should be removed from the crematorium of Chhani village and demanded that the administration of the crematorium be allowed to run in the way it was being administered by the Dharmada Trust of Chhani village. Hitesh Patel of Chhani village said that the people of Chhani village do not want free service. Therefore, if a proper decision is not taken by the corporation regarding the crematorium of Chhani village, then chhani village bandh has been announced next Sunday. If the right decision is not taken even after that, then on Monday a huge rally will be taken out from Chhani village and will go to the corporation and an application will be given to the municipal commissioner. Even after that, if the right decision is not taken, there will be a fierce agitation.
