It may be recalled that in the early hours of July 1, 160 city buses were suddenly stopped by Vinayak Logistics. However, to resolve the issue quickly, the administration has given a three-month extension to the bus service at 10.30 am. After this relief decision, the city bus service, which was disrupted in the morning, has been restored from 11 am, which will bring a big relief to the daily commuters. As many as 30 new AC electric buses were flagged off at GSFC Gate No. 1 in Vadodara on Monday (June 29). This eco-friendly transport revolution was started by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation under the central government's ambitious PM e-Bus service with a resolve to make the city a clean city-green city. Keeping in view the growing needs of Vadodara city, the central government has sanctioned a total of 250 AC electric buses instead of the earlier 100 buses. A total of 130 buses will be allocated in the first phase of the project, which is part of which this facility has been launched. The e-bus is equipped with modern facilities.
These electric buses equipped with zero emission technology will reduce carbon footprint of the city and citizens will benefit from cleaner air travel. All these buses will be fully air-conditioned and noise free, making travel more pleasant and comfortable. For the safety of passengers, CCTV cameras, passenger counting system and driver monitoring system have been arranged in the buses. These buses are wheelchair accessible. Preference seats have been reserved for Divyangjan and Senior Citizens as well as special pink seats for women. Hydraulic lift and ramp facilities have also been provided in select buses. Moreover, digital ticketing for modern travel, GPS for live tracking.
