The final voter list was released in Uttar Pradesh on Friday under the second phase of the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR). A total of 6.08 crore names have been deleted from the electoral rolls of 9 states and 3 Union Territories. Before the start of the SIR process on October 27 last year, the total number of voters in 12 States and Union Territories was around 51 crore. After the publication of the final list, the number has come down to 44.92 crore. In the second phase of SIR, final electoral rolls have been published in the States of Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Goa including Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep. The number of voters in the final list of SIR released on Friday in Uttar Pradesh has dropped by 13% to 13.39 crore. That is, the names of 2.04 crore people have been removed from the list. In West Bengal, the names of nearly 91 lakh voters have been excluded from the final list. 60 crore voters covered so far, 39 crore pending Election Commission had ordered SIR to be conducted across the country on 24th June 2025.
