The incident of public firing on a trader in Vadodara's Waghodia area five days ago has raised questions about the law and order situation in the entire district. In view of the seriousness of the matter, a joint probe has been ordered by the Vadodara Range IG and the district police chief. However, the attackers turned out to be so calm that even after five days, the police are still hopping in the dark and no trace of the shooters has been found.
Identification impossible despite dashcam footage
The most shocking thing is that when the shooting took place, live footage of the shooters was captured in the dashcam of a passing car. But, as the shooters completely covered their faces with masks at the time of the crime, their faces could not be clearly identified despite the technology. Apart from this, when the number plate of the motorcycle used by the attackers was checked in the search system, the number was also found to be completely wrong and bogus, due to which the efforts of the police to reach the owner of the vehicle have failed.
Police digging up fields and out-of-state connections
The Vadodara police have now adopted a hi-tech method based on information that the shooters fled from Waghodia Chowk to the unpaved roads and fields of the surrounding rural areas after firing. Intensive checking is being carried out by flying drone cameras in the air to find out if shooters are hiding anywhere in the waving fields spread for kilometres around Waghodia. According to top police officials, the contract could have been given due to a major dispute or property-financial transaction at the local level and there is a strong suspicion that the professional shooters who carried out the attack were from UP, MP or Rajasthan. At present, Vadodara police teams have also left for different states to get clues.
