Sonam Wangchuk's wife Gitanjali Angmo on Thursday criticised the central government. He compared the current situation in Ladakh with that of British India. He said that the Ministry of Home Affairs was misusing the Ladakh Police. Gitanjali wrote on X, "Is India really free? In 1857, on the orders of the Queen, 24,000 British used 135,000 Indian soldiers to oppress 300 million Indians. Today, on the orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs, a dozen administrators are misusing 2400 Ladakhi police to commit atrocities on 3 lakh Ladakhis," he said. He was charged under the stringent National Security Act (NSA) and lodged in Jodhpur Central Jail. Four people were killed in the protests on September 24.
