mythology, in the month of Shravan, Lord Shiva comes with his entire family to Kankhal in Haridwar, which is also the home of Shiva's in-laws. According to Shiva Purana, once Goddess Sati's father Daksha Prajapati organized a yagna at Kankhal in Haridwar, in which he did not invite Shiva

but Sati insisted on going to her father's house for a yagna without being invited. When Sati reached her father's house, her father Daksha Prajapati insulted Shiva, the god of all gods, which Sati could not bear and gave her life in the fire of yajna. Enraged by this, Shiva took the form of Veerabhadra and cut off Daksha's head.

but on the prayer of the gods, Shiva put the head of the goat and revived Daksha. After this, Daksha apologized to Shiva and took a promise from Bholenath that he would give him an opportunity to stay in his place and serve him in the month of Shravan every year. Since then, it has been believed that Lord Shiva resides in the form of Daksheshwar in The Kanthal of Haridwar and also manages the entire universe.
