Presentation: 114 families living in RGT College Compound deprived of basic amenities

As many as 114 families have been living in the RGT College compound in Porbandar for the last 121 years. These families were allotted accommodation for service during the princely state. Today, around 700 residents live in the colony, yet they are deprived of basic amenities like drinking water, electricity, roads, drainage and toilets. Locals said that there were a total of 7 wells in the compound at the time of the princely state. In 1955, the locals dug a borewell at their own expense to provide water, but after 1983, the water of the bore has become saline and saline. Due to lack of water, locals have to travel two kilometres away to fetch drinking water. Water is supplied by the corporation through tankers but it is not enough according to the population. Apart from this, there are no toilet facilities in the colony, the roads are in a very bad condition and there are no streetlights. The facility has not been provided despite paying house tax regularly. It has been proposed to provide basic amenities like drinking water, drainage, roads, lights and toilets at the earliest. Locals living in the Porbandar RGT College compound reached the municipal office and made a representation. Presentation for 55 years but no facility The locals of the RGT College compound have been making written and verbal representations to the administration for the last 55 years, but the facility has not been made available by the administration. Even when the municipality has been formed, the locals here have made several representations but since the primary facilities are not yet available, the locals have once again made a written representation to the corporation.
