The Gujarat BJP will hold a discussion on the local body elections in Gujarat on April 8 and tomorrow, April 9. As per the new electoral roll of the State Election Commission, reservation rotation, caste equation, BJP rules and policy decided in the parliamentary board, 140 corporators can be denied tickets in the state's largest Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. More than 70 per cent of the corporators will be housed. According to BJP sources, the BJP has decided to field people who have a clean image and non-controversial people in the municipal corporation. No corporator above 60 years of age and who has become a corporator after contesting elections for three terms will not be given a ticket. In Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, BJP corporators have been involved in many minor and big controversies, the first being former corporator of Khokhra ward Chetan Parmar, who was constantly living abroad. He used to take leave of the general assembly for three months and come to sign the fourth general meeting so that he would not be disqualified. In the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, all the wards with reserved rotation, caste equation, Congress-dominated seats, controversies-ridden wards will have a whole new panel of all four candidates. The BJP will field new panels in 12 wards including Ghatlodia, Nava Vadaj, Kubernagar, Shahpur, Thakkarbapanagar, Saijpur Bogha, Dariapur, Saraspur-Rakhiyal, Jamalpur, Gomtipur, Maktampura and Behrampura. In all the remaining wards, a maximum of two candidates will be repeated. The active incumbents in the committee will be repeated.
Different office bearers in the state's largest municipal corporation may also be repeated. The committees that were very inactive in the municipal corporation have been revived and functioned. Advocates Pradeep Dave, former chairman of the revenue committee, Prakash Gurjar in the legal committee, Jayesh Trivedi and Snehaba Parmar in the recreation committee, Ashwin Pethani and Mukesh Patel in the housing committee are also likely to be reinstated.
