Ahmedabad Air Pollution: Ahmedabad city recorded an average air quality index (AQI) of 180 due to severe air pollution during Diwali festivities, with four areas of Hebatpur, Shantigram, Sola and Thaltej falling into the 'very poor' category after the AQI crossed 200
Ahmedabad city residents are finding it difficult to breathe as the city's atmosphere has become alarmingly polluted. During Diwali festivities, four major areas of the city — Hebatpur, Shantigram, Sola and Thaltej — have seen a huge jump in the pollution levels. According to the Central Pollution Monitoring Data, the AQI in these areas has crossed the 200-mark. Though the average AQI of the city is recorded at 180, there are concerns that the air pollution is likely to rise to alarming levels due to firecrackers and firecracker smoke during the night<>
Increasing amount of toxic air poses a major threat to the respiratory and health of the citizens of the city. In view of this situation, it is imperative that special advisories are issued by the Health Department in the coming days and the local administration takes stringent measures to control pollution
