Arshad Warsi clarifies on calling Prabhas a clown: 'I only joke with friends, live life lightly'; Earlier, celebs had condemned
Arshad Warsi recently criticized the film 'Kalki 2898AD' and said, "Prabhas looked like a clown in the film." Now Arshad has broken his silence on the controversy and said that he is only joking with people he knows. In an interview with News18, Arshad Warsi said, "I only joke with my friends. To tell you the truth, I don't joke with anyone else. If I have to make a joke, I only do it with people I know well and who are my friends." But if I don't know someone, I don't say anything against him, because I don't know anything about him. That's all there is to it." "Nowadays there is so much scrutiny on social media that people should learn to take jokes as jokes. Arshad believes that apart from real life, the jokes shown in movies should also be treated as jokes. He cited the example of a dialogue from the film 'Munnabhai MBBS', in which he called a Chinese tourist Hakka noodles. Arshad said, 'There is nothing objectionable about it. Today people can analyze it more, but it is not wrong. Just as we jokingly call a boy a 'hair shop', there's nothing wrong with that." However, Arshad also says that he believes in 'self-censorship'. "Everybody should follow it. I am personally not a big fan of Pakistani humour as it is often to look down on other people. It is more about making fun of people and teasing them by names. A lot of people like it, but not me. Similarly, I don't like double meaning or sexual comedy. This is my personal preference. People may have their own choices, but I adopt this kind of self-censorship for myself," he said. On Samdish Bhatia's podcast, Arshad Warsi was asked what was the last bad film he watched. On this, he took the name of 'Kalki' and said, "When I saw 'Kalki', I didn't like it. I'm in a lot of trouble but Amitji, I don't understand this man. If you swear that you get as much power as you do, life will be made. It's amazing, it's unbelievable. I was really sad to see Prabhas. Apologies for why he was in the film but he looked like a clown. I want to see 'Mad Max' (Hollywood film). I'd like to see Mel Gibson (Hollywood actor) there. What have you turned into him, man. Why are you doing this? 'Kalki' director Nag Ashwin slammed Arshad Warsi's statement on social media and wrote, "Let's not go back. Now discussions like North versus South or Bollywood vs Tollywood should stop. We should focus on the big picture, the unified Indian film industry. Arshad sahib should have had a better choice of words, but it didn't matter. I am sending 'Bujji' toys for their children. And I will work so hard that when 'Kalki 2' (K2) releases, after watching the first show of the first day, he will tweet that Prabhas is the best actor ever." I didn't expect such an unprofessional comment from Arshad Warsi. Prabhas's size is so big that the comments of small-minded people don't make any difference to him."
