Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh win gold medals in judo. History has been created. Earlier, no Indian judo athlete could win a gold medal in the history of the Commonwealth Games. Asmita defeated a Canadian athlete in the final of the women's 48kg category. Harsh Singh, on the other hand, created history by defeating an Australian athlete in the new men's 60kg category.
At the same time, Harsh Singh defeated Australia's Joshua Katz by a 10-0 margin in the final. He became the first male athlete from India to win a gold medal in judo at the Commonwealth Games.
India has 5 gold medals
The number of India's gold medals in the medal table of the Commonwealth Games 2026 has increased to 5. India has now moved to number eight in the medal tally. India currently has 5 gold medals, 10 silver and 4 bronze medals. After Asmita and Harsh, India is also hoping for a gold medal in judo from Yamini Maurya. Yamini will face England's Acela Toprak in the final of the women's 57kg category.
