Mahima Makwana was born on 5 August 1999 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Her father died when she was five months old. His mother worked in an NGO. Mahima's childhood was spent in the chawl.

Mahima had said, 'I was not interested in acting, I used to tell my mother. I started auditioning when I was 9 years old. She used to go to school for half a day and then go to auditions by bus and then come back home exhausted. The biggest reason I got into acting was that I wanted to support my family.

One day Mahima was told by her mother that she wanted to buy her own house before leaving this world. Mahima fulfilled this dream of mother at the age of just 14. "At the age of 14, I bought my first house on Mira Road. Now Mahima has another house. The actress bought her second house in Mumbai on her mother's birthday in 2025.
