A meeting of the Bharuch District Water and Sanitation Committee (WASMO) was held under the chairmanship of District Collector Gaurang Makwana. During the meeting, various important issues related to water supply and sanitation in the district were discussed in detail, as well as the progress of ongoing schemes was reviewed. At the beginning of the meeting, the Business Note of the previous meeting held on 22nd December, 2025 was read and ratified. Thereafter, the progress of ongoing schemes under "Jal Jeevan Mission – Nal se Jal" and "Augmentation of Tap Connectivity in General" programme was reviewed. Necessary instructions were given to the concerned officials to expedite the works. The meeting discussed the pending audit of water supply schemes. Repair and maintenance of village level inland water supply schemes through Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and Self Help Groups (SHGs) was considered. In addition, the need for training of village level pump operators at the headworks was emphasized. Villages with 0-30% water tax collection were reviewed and guidance was given for taking incentive measures to increase tax collection. During the meeting, details related to water tax levy incentive scheme, entries made on Gati Shakti portal, as well as grievances related to water supply and their redressal were also reviewed. Issues related to appointment of operators in the district, honorarium to operators, operator app login and their performance in water supply schemes were also discussed. The selection of villages for 'Jal Arpan Diwas' was also discussed along with review of the ongoing work for smooth implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) Phase-II. At the end of the meeting, the District Collector directed all concerned departments to work in coordination to make water supply and sanitation services more effective.
