Air pollution is increasing day by day. Air pollution in the city has increased a lot this year. Even when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the German Chancellor visited Ahmedabad, the air pollution situation in Ahmedabad became serious. The Municipal Corporation has identified a total of 9 hotspots in the city for the spread of air pollution by identifying local sources of pollution. These include Pirana, Rakhiyal, Raigarh, Bopal, Vatva, SP Stadium, Chandkheda, Maninagar. In addition, there are 16 CD waste collection centers. Targeted action plans have been put in place with special monitoring in these areas. Steps are being taken to improve air quality at all these places. A "Good Construction Practices Policy" has been implemented to control pollution generated from construction sites. Dust sensors, air quality displays and CCTVs have been made mandatory on sites with a built-up area of more than 20,000 square meters. Apart from this, use of mist machines and complete removal of soil or sand during excavation, arrangement of barricades and gritnets around the site, proper paving of the entry and exit routes and installation of tyre washer system at the entry and exit. Under this policy, dust sensors have been installed at about 140 construction sites so far and the pollution level is reduced by regular monitoring. Not only this, the amount of green nets being installed at various construction sites has also increased, thereby minimizing penalty collection. Under this policy, during 2024-25, Rs. 1.71 crore and Rs. 1.71 crore in 2025-26 till date. A penalty of Rs 1.16 crore has been collected. There are 16 truck-mounted mist machines in operation in the city.
In the field of CD waste management, 25 CD collection centres have been developed and a 1000 TPD capacity processing plant at Gyaspur is operational. The second plant with an additional capacity of 1000 TPD will be commissioned by December 2026. Therefore, scientific disposal of construction waste will further reduce the dust emissions in the air. Utilizing the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) and grants received under the 15th Finance Commission, 16 truck-mounted mist machines are operational in the city. Out of these, 6 mist machines are continuously operating in Pirana dumpsite and surrounding areas, while 10 mist machines are performing misting operations regularly by determining the routes of polluted roads. Apart from this, a total of 62 mechanical road sweeper machines are in operation for the PM meeting. 128 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Operational in the City
The city has adopted a green model in the field of public transport in Ahmedabad. A total of 1250 buses together with AMTS and BRTS are running on clean fuel. This includes 1052 CNG and 207 electric buses. The city has 128 operational electric vehicle charging stations and solar powered charging facilities have been developed. These initiatives are proving to be crucial in reducing vehicular emissions. The city's green cover reached around 12.5 per cent.

Ahmedabad will move towards the goal of "Clean Air, Healthy Citizen and Sustainable Urbanization" through measures to increase misting capacity, expansion of green transport, increase in CD processing facilities and increase in green cover.
