Dharusan youth murder case: Patan Sessions Court sentences one accused to life imprisonment

A sessions court in Patan has given an important verdict in the 2018 murder case of Dhavalkumar Rajubhai Joshi of Dharusan village in Saraswati taluka. The court sentenced one of the three accused, Sachin Babubhai Prajapati, to life imprisonment till the last breath of his life. Apart from this, a fine of Rs 1 lakh has also been imposed on the accused, which has been ordered to be paid as compensation to the mother of the deceased. Sessions Court Judge M.A. Shaikh convicted Sachin Kumar Babubhai Laxmanbhai Prajapati (R/o Mul Chandravati, Siddhpur, now Ambasan, Mehsana) for the murder on September 22, 2018 under IPC sections 302, 201, 102(b), 34 and GP Act. The judge sentenced the accused to life imprisonment. The court also ordered the accused to pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh to the mother of the deceased Dhawal Joshi as compensation. If the accused fails to pay the fine, he will have to undergo one more year's simple imprisonment. Apart from the main punishment, the accused has been sentenced to five years simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 under IPC sections 201, 120 (B) and 34. If he fails to pay the fine, he will be sentenced to six months in simple imprisonment. A simple imprisonment of two months has also been ordered under the GP Act 135. Public Prosecutor J.D. Thakkar submitted before the court that the accused had committed a serious crime like murder. The mother of the deceased has lost her 18-year-old son, whose loss is irreparable. He demanded strict punishment as per law to set an example in the society and prevent recurrence of such crimes. After hearing the arguments of both sides, Judge S.M. In his 141-page judgment, Shaikh said that the accused Sachin Prajapati and the two juveniles who were in conflict with the law had hatched a conspiracy and proved to murder the deceased Dhawal Joshi. Accused Sachin Prajapati plays the main accused as he inflicted fatal injuries on Dhawal with a knife.
