'Operation Surakshit Cyberspace': Gujarat Police's 28-day mega campaign for digital safety of women and children

In order to ensure that women and children in the state feel safe not only on the roads but also online and in cyberspace, Gujarat Police has launched a 28-day statewide campaign 'Operation Safe Cyberspace', which aims to create a safe digital ecosystem across the state

1 July to 28th July, 2026 The campaign aims to protect women and children from cyber crimes through community engagement, technology-based monitoring, victim outreach, cyber awareness and speedy legal action. 'Operation Safe Cyberspace' is a focused and intelligence-based initiative designed to prevent cybercrimes, protect people on digital platforms and enhance public confidence<>

"This operation is aimed at strengthening public safety in the digital ecosystem, especially for women and children, who are increasingly vulnerable to online exploitation, cyberstalking, financial frauds, identity theft and other cyber-related crimes. The campaign is aimed at early identification of potential victims, prevention of financial losses, improving cyber awareness and ensuring immediate police intervention through coordinated action at all levels, said Ajay Choudhary, Additional Director General of Police, CID Crime (Women's Cell),

The campaign lays special emphasis on creating a safe online environment for women and children through field-level verification, victim outreach, digital awareness programs and effective use of cyber intelligence and analytical tools<>

Police personnel have been assigned the responsibility to identify potential victims, verify cybercrime alerts, counsel potential victims, facilitate immediate reporting through the National Cyber Helpline and ensure timely registration and investigation of crimes. The campaign will also strengthen coordination with Banks, Telecom Service Providers, Educational Institutions, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), NGOs and community leaders to spread awareness and strengthen preventive measures><

One of the key features of the operation is that it clearly delineates responsibilities, monitoring methods and performance indicators for the field officers. By prioritizing prevention, early intervention and quick response, this initiative seeks to stop cybercrimes before they cause financial, emotional, or psychological harm<>

Local 'SHE Teams' and dedicated cybercrime police stations will lead the implementation on ground through awareness programs, community outreach and targeted interventions to equip women, children, parents, students and educational institutions to identify and respond to online threats

'Operation Safe Cyberspace'
The main motto of this campaign is, "Security through Awareness, Investigation by Technology, Safe Gujarat with Action by Law and Public Participation."

Under the

Campaign, state-wide ambitious targets have been set, which include:
• Educate 25 lakh citizens on cyber safety and responsible digital behaviour.
• 20 lakh students to be motivated to take the 'Cyber Safety Pledge'.
• Conduct cyber awareness programmes in 10,000 schools and 1,500 colleges.
• Educating 1 lakh Adolescent Girls on cyberstalking, online harassment, digital privacy and safe internet access.
• Organize 5,000 Parental Awareness Sessions for families to protect their children from online bullying.
• Ensure preliminary police action within 24 hours on every cyber complaint involving women and children.
