A meeting of the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Monitoring Committee was held under the chairmanship of Bharuch District Collector Gaurang Makwana. In the meeting, Rs. New development works worth Rs 10.59 crore were sanctioned. The schemes implemented for the welfare of the people of the mineral affected villages and their people under DMF Rules-2016 of the Government of Gujarat were also reviewed. These works have been approved unanimously for the years 2023-24 to 2025-26. A total of Rs. Out of the Rs 10.59 crore grant, Rs 10.59 crore has been allocated for 39 works in the education sector. Rs 498.05 lakh, Rs 498.05 lakh for 5 works for water facility. Rs 65 lakh for cleanliness, Rs 10 lakh for cleanliness. 86 lakhs. Apart from this, Rs. 1000 crore has been allocated for 6 works for environmental protection and pollution abatement. Rs. 220 lakh for animal husbandry, Rs. 2 for animal husbandry. Rs 16 lakh for 17 works in the field of physical facilities. Rs 174 lakh has been allocated. During the meeting, a detailed review of the works sanctioned earlier and under progress, was also carried out. District Collector Gaurang Makwana emphasized on completing the works within the time frame by optimum and quality utilization of DMF funds. "There is no dearth of budget, proper planning and effective implementation are necessary for the well-being of the people," he said. Further, instructions were given to the officials to increase green cover and prioritize tree plantation works in view of the challenges of rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge as well as global warming. It is pertinent to mention here that 30% and 10% of royalty per metric tonne on the mineral produced from the mineral lease area is deposited in the DMF Fund. The funds are used in sectors including drinking water, health, education, women and child welfare, elderly and disabled welfare, skill development, sanitation, environment protection, pollution abatement, housing, agriculture, animal husbandry, irrigation, energy and watershed development. The meeting was attended by the members of the committee as well as senior officers and representatives of various departments.
