What kind of facilities are there for the training of police personnel in the academy spread over 124 acres and what kind of facilities will be set up here for the Commonwealth Games? The Karai Police Academy is an important training institute for the Gujarat Police. From 1985 to 2000, commandos were trained at Khalal. Later, various facilities were set up in the academy in a phased manner. At present, the academy has been expanded to 124 acres. The rest of the acres are in dispute. The academy also has a hostel with all the facilities from the admin office to the police personnel. In a conversation with a senior official of the Karai Police Academy and a visit to the spot, it was found that the entire round of the Karai Academy is three and a half to four kilometers. This 16-metre "walkway" is known as the riverfront. So far, 60,000 police officers have been trained here So far, more than 60,000 officers and police personnel of various ranks have been trained here. Many even planted trees during their training here. Which has become a banyan tree today. There is a dense forest of about 30,000 different species of trees here i.e. Oxygen Park. In which about a thousand sandalwood trees have been planted. At three places, about 7000 trees are grown using the Miyawaki method. Grounds available for Commonwealth Games There is a synthetic athletic track (which has been selected for the Commonwealth Games), three large parade grounds, a football ground, synthetic tennis and basketball courts, swimming pools, badminton courts. In addition, a separate "buffet range" has been created for the police personnel for firing practice. It is designed in such a way that even if there is a misfire during the training of shooting with different guns, the bullet remains in the designated area. Karai Sports Complex A state-of-the-art sports complex will come up on 124 acres at the Gujarat Police Academy at Karai, Gandhinagar. At the core of the multi-crore project is a state-of-the-art athletics stadium that can accommodate 50,000-55,000 spectators. The indoor multiuse ground will have retractable seating Along with this, an indoor multi-use ground will be built in Karai, with retractable seating, which will witness various events.
