Earthquake in Bangladesh cricket, former cricketer becomes new BCB president after government intervention

Tamim Iqbal BCB President: There has been a coup d'état in power of the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Former cricketer Tamim Iqbal has become the new president of the BCB. The decision comes days after Bangladesh demanded the continuation of the bilateral series against India

The National Sports Council, which comes under the Bangladesh government, had formed a committee that will oversee the day-to-day functioning of the board till the next elections. 37-year-old Tamim Iqbal has become the youngest president in the history of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

Nazrul said that Bangladesh's matches should be shifted from Kolkata and Mumbai to Sri Lanka. He did this in protest against the removal of Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL. Aminul Islam was not able to do anything during this entire dispute. Even in the last few days, 6 directors have resigned from their posts in the BCB.

Elections are to be held within the next 90 days

Elections in the Bangladesh Cricket Board are to be held within the next 90 days. Tamim Iqbal will also head the 11-member committee, whose job will be to ensure that the board elections are conducted properly. The dismissal of the current chairman of the board has been communicated to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

By the way, ICC rules do not allow government interference in the internal affairs of the board. It is unlikely that the ICC will impose any restrictions on Bangladesh as the National Sports Council has already announced the elections.
