Thousands of striking employees gathered at Manesar in Haryana's Gurugram on Thursday despite the imposition of Section 163. The police resorted to lathicharge to disperse them. This led to a stampede-like situation. More than 20 employees were injured in the incident. One employee has suffered a serious head injury. He was admitted to the hospital after losing a lot of blood. The agitated strikers torched a police bike and pelted stones at the vehicle. Due to which the front glass was broken. The clashes continued for several hours. Following the controversy, notices with the government's order regarding salary hike were pasted outside many companies. A few days ago, there was a strike in Honda over the salary hike. After that, in the last 3 days, its impact has reached more than half a dozen big companies. However, the employees returned to work after the contract with the Honda company. Employees of Satyam, Munjal Showa, Ricoh and other companies have not been ready to return to work for 3 days. The police administration said that the protest was stopped by imposing Section 163 here. But the protesters did not believe. Employee leaders say contract workers have been victims of exploitation for a long time. Demands like minimum wages, overtime payment, security and regularisation have been pending for years. An attempt was made to snatch the mobile phones of the policemen. The employees said that this is a fight for their rights which is a matter between them and the management. The police should not intervene and should not take the side of the management. On the other hand, DC Ajay Kumar issued a statement yesterday evening. He said that the minimum wage rates have been increased by the government. This will be applicable from April 1. He said that the salary of unskilled workers has been increased from 11275 to 15220, the salary of semi-skilled workers has been increased from Rs 12430 to Rs 16780 and the salary of skilled workers has been increased from Rs 13704 to Rs 18500. The salary of highly skilled people will increase from Rs 14389 to Rs 19425. This increase is about 35 per cent.
