Bhavnagar city has witnessed several accidents as well as hit-and-run incidents in the last few months due to increasing traffic day by day. Incidents of innocent civilians losing their lives in these accidents have raised concerns in the city. If we look at many areas of the city, it is clear that vehicles are running at a reckless speed and the chances of accidents are constantly increasing due to lack of adequate traffic control system. At that time, it is necessary for the administration to take steps to control the increasing speed of vehicles. Heavy traffic is seen in areas like Lala Bapa Chowk near Bharatnagar Chowk, Subhash Nagar crossroads opposite Derasar, Don Chowk crossroads near Bhavnagar Nagarik Bank, Top Three Circles and Rubber Factory crossroads. Vehicles pass without stopping at these places and often pedestrians and two-wheeler riders are seen at risk. Looking at the local situation, it is clear that there is an urgent need for arrangements like traffic signals and speed breakers. Traffic signals are seen in old areas of the city but such arrangements are lacking in the newly developed areas. As a result, there is no control over the speed of the vehicles and the chances of accidents increase. If new traffic points are set up in these areas and signals and speed breakers are installed, traffic can be streamlined and many lives can be saved. In view of the prevailing situation, there is a need for the city administration to take necessary action immediately without any delay.
