In the rural areas of Dang district, weekly haats are no longer limited to shopping centres, but are also becoming an important medium of health services. With the initiative of the district administration, people in remote areas are getting the benefits of health services directly in the haats and bazaars itself. In this series, a special health camp was organized by the 'Arogya Sanjeevani Mobile Unit' at the weekly market in Galkund village of Ahwa taluka on Tuesday. In this camp, Dr. Hetal Deshmukh and her team provided health check-ups and necessary guidance to a large number of villagers. During the camp, various ailments like common fever, cold, cough, blood pressure and diabetes were checked. Essential medicines were also distributed to the patients and important health advice was given. This service proved to be especially useful for the elderly, women and children. Dr. Dr Hetal Deshmukh said the mobile health unit functioning under Ahwa Civil Hospital regularly conducts health camps in the notified villages. The main objective of this initiative is to ensure that people living in remote and hilly areas do not have to travel for treatment and get quality healthcare services at their doorsteps. The scheme launched by the district administration is further strengthening the rural health system. People coming to the haat bazaar can not only fulfill their daily needs but also get their health check-up done at one place, which saves their time and expenses. The initiative has also been well received by the villagers. He said that the availability of health services in Haat Bazaar has led to early identification of diseases and increased health awareness due to timely treatment. Such activities in the health sector are playing an important role in the development of Dang district.
