Human Rights Federation Demands Immediate Action from State Government Over Pending Salaries of GRD Personnel

The Human Rights Federation has drawn the attention of the state government towards the delay in salary payments to personnel of the Gram Rakshak Dal (GRD) serving in various districts and talukas of Gujarat. The federation has submitted a representation urging the government to adopt a humanitarian approach and take immediate action on the matter.

In its representation, the federation stated that complaints have been received from several parts of the state regarding GRD personnel not receiving their salaries on time, due to which they and their families are facing serious financial difficulties. The representation highlighted that in the current period of rising inflation, it has become extremely challenging for them to manage their livelihoods without receiving salaries for months.

The representation also raised a question about the situation that would arise if the salary of any senior government officer or employee were withheld for two to three months. The federation stated that it is important to consider the severe mental and financial distress faced by GRD personnel, who serve as ordinary employees, when they do not receive their wages on time.

The Human Rights Federation has requested the state government to issue necessary instructions to all District Superintendents of Police (SPs) to ensure the immediate payment of pending salaries and other dues of GRD personnel. The federation stated that it is extremely unfortunate that personnel who perform their duties with dedication have to face financial hardships, and receiving timely wages is a basic right of every employee.

The federation has appealed to the state government to show sensitivity towards the issue and take a positive decision at the earliest so that thousands of GRD personnel and their families can receive relief.
