Gujarat Congress: Congress announces committees for local body polls, hands over responsibility to these veteran leaders

Gujarat Congress : The Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has started preparations for the local body elections. The Gujarat Congress has announced different committees with immediate effect.   The Congress has decided to contest the upcoming local body elections in Gujarat. An aggressive strategy has been adopted.   Various committees have been formed in the state and senior leaders have been entrusted with important responsibilities.

Bharatsinh Solanki has been appointed as the Chairman of the Strategy Committee.
Lalji Desai has been made the vice chairman of the strategy committee.  
Hemang Vasavada has been appointed as the Convener of the Strategy Committee. 

Shaktisinh Gohil has been made the chairman of the campaign committee.
Paresh Dhanani has been made the vice chairman of the campaign committee.  
MP Geniben Thakor has been appointed as the convener of the campaign committee. 

Siddharth Patel has been appointed as the Chairman of the Election Management Committee.
Jignesh Mevani has been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Election Management Committee.
Bimal Shah has been appointed as the convener of the Election Management Committee.

Jagdish Thakor has been appointed as the Chairman of the Programme Implementation Committee.
Indravijay Singh has been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Programme Implementation Committee. 
Himmatsinh Patel has been appointed as the Convener of the Programme Implementation Committee.

Local Self Government Bodies elections in Gujarat

Gujarat State Election Commission is finalising the process for the forthcoming local body elections. Polling is likely to be held in various municipalities, taluka panchayats and district panchayats across the state in the first week of May 2026. The current budget as soon as the session concludes i.e.   The official dates for the elections will be announced in the last days of March 2026. The exercise is being undertaken to ensure timely elections as per constitutional provisions as the tenure of various local bodies is coming to an end<>
