Gujarat PDS sugar distribution: The state government is making continuous efforts to ensure that even the remotest and poor families of the state can celebrate the festivals with joy. The need for sugar for making sweets and other dishes during festivals increases in poor and middle class families. In view of this, a very important and people-oriented decision has been taken by the Department of Food and Civil Supplies. State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ramanbhai Solanki in an official statement recently said that all the Antyodaya and BPL ration card holders registered under the Public Distribution System (PDS) have been provided with sugar on time and in sufficient quantity. It has been ensured that sugar for the month of September-2026 is available on time and in sufficient quantity. For this purpose, the deadline for distribution of sugar and payment of other commodities for the operators of Fair Price Shops has been officially extended. The earlier deadline has now been fixed as 03/09/2026. This decision will also provide adequate and convenient time to the shopkeepers for lifting their goods

distribution system, it is stated that Antyodaya and BPL in the state. Ration card holders in the Antyodaya and BPL categories are allocated a fixed quantity of sugar according to the registered number of their family members. Subsidized rates have been fixed by the government to protect the economically weaker sections from the high market prices. Under this, sugar is provided to the beneficiary families with Antyodaya cards at a very subsidized rate of only Rs 15 per kg. While BPL The distribution rate of sugar for (living below the poverty line) card holders has been kept at Rs 22 per kg. These meagre rates provide a big financial relief to poor households in monthly budget and maintain the sweetness of festivals

In order to ensure that there is no shortage of sugar during the upcoming festivals, the State Government had already started allotment of sugar as per requirement per ration card a month in advance i.e. in August-2026 itself. As part of this concerted planning, so far a huge quantity of 7,100 metric tonnes of sugar has been successfully distributed to the beneficiaries through fair price shops across the state. Apart from this, the state government has allocated another 4,500 metric tonnes of sugar to various districts to meet the demand for the current month of September-2026. Minister of Food and Civil Supplies Ramanbhai Solanki concluded by assuring that all the needy citizens of the State will get their required quantity of sugar on time and without any hindrance. Strict instructions have also been given to the administration to maintain complete transparency in the entire process so that no poor family is deprived of the celebration of festivals
