It is to be noted that the Gujarat High Court has issued orders for mass transfer and promotion of judges of the subordinate courts of the state. Under this decision of the High Court, a large number of judges of the District Judge, Senior Civil Judge and Civil Judge cadre have been given new appointments. All these judges will have to take charge from their current positions by August 17<>
63 Inter-District transfers of Civil Judges
Looking at the details of transfers and promotions, a total of 67 District Judges have been transferred internally, while 57 Judges have been transferred with promotion. In addition, 86 Judges have been placed at Additional Sessions or Sessions Division. In the Senior Civil Judge cadre, 26 Judges have been made internal transfers and 79 Judges have been promoted. 63 Civil Judges of the Subordinate Courts of the State have also been transferred.

Talking about the allocation according to major districts, 17 judges have been appointed in Surat, 11 in Vadodara, 9 in Ahmedabad, 8 each in Rajkot and Kutch, 6 in Banaskantha, 5 each in Bharuch and Mehsana and 4-4 in Gandhinagar, Anand and Surendranagar. Under the internal transfer of senior civil judges, 37 judges have been transferred in Ahmedabad, 21 each in Vadodara and Rajkot, 19 in Surat, 8 in Jamnagar, 7 in Kheda, 6 in Mehsana and 5 each in Banaskantha and Sabarkantha. The inter-court transfer of civil judges includes 6-6 judges in Surat and Rajkot, 3-3 in Kutch and Mehsana, and 2-2 in Ahmedabad, Bharuch and Vadodara. These sweeping changes in the High Courts will expedite the disposal of cases pending in the lower courts.
