The Education Department of the Government of Gujarat has taken a very important and relief for thousands of teachers of the state. According to a new resolution announced on August 3, 2026, teachers working in state-aided private primary schools will also be given the benefit of 'medical reimbursement' on par with government employees. This historic decision has provided huge financial security to primary teachers and this new rule has come into effect across the state from the date of the announcement of the resolution
going back to earlier rules, as per a resolution passed in 1980, the benefit of medical reimbursement was available only to the teachers and staff of Aided Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools. Primary school teachers were deprived of this benefit for a long time. Addressing this inequality and keeping in view the interest of primary teachers, a special proposal was submitted to the government by the Directorate of Elementary Education in April 2024 to extend this facility to private primary school teachers also<>
