Gujarat SIR Controversy: The draft voters' list has been released in Gujarat, while now preparations are underway for the final voters' list. However, there was an uproar when lakhs of Form-7 were filled from Gujarat with the intention of cancelling the names of voters. Eventually, it was the BJP leaders and workers themselves who were forced to withdraw their objections due to the fear of jail and fine provisions. As a result, the State Election Commission received 14.11 lakh Form-7s, which dropped to 1.83 lakh overnight.
