Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat Ji was on a two-day visit to Valsad district. On Friday night, he attended a night gram sabha held at Dehri-Gowada village in Umargam taluka. He interacted directly with the villagers in the meeting held in the premises of the secondary and higher secondary schools. The governor stressed on issues such as drug-free village, quality education, cleanliness, tree plantation and natural farming. Before the night meeting, Governor Acharya Devvratji reached the house of a Scheduled Caste family in the village. He had an intimate meeting with the family of Kaushik Bhai Sureshbhai Mahayavanshi. The governor sat with the family and enquired about their lives and enjoyed simple meals like milk sabzi, roti, khichdi and moong dal as per the village tradition. Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that when there is love, unity and brotherhood in the family, it becomes like heaven. He appealed to the villagers to make their children not only educated but also cultured and virtuous. He added that children are the biggest asset of our society and if the future generations are educated and cultured, then the all-round development of the society is possible.
Expressing concern over health and agriculture, the Governor said that the increased use of chemical fertilizers is reducing the fertility of the soil and is also affecting human health. He appealed to the farmers to shun chemical fertilizers like urea and DAP and adopt natural farming. At the same time, he suggested ways to increase income by linking animal husbandry with farming. The governor also motivated people to reduce the use of petrol and diesel. He said that due to the global situation, import of crude oil is becoming a huge economic burden for the country. On this occasion, Zilla Panchayat President Hetalben Patel, MLA Ramanbhai Patkar, District Development Officer Atirag Chaplot, officials of various departments, local leaders and a large number of villagers were present.
