Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri is scheduled to make a two-day official visit to Qatar from today amid the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. Hardeep Singh Puri's visit is considered very important for both the countries and India's gas industry at a time when Iran has recently severely damaged Qatar's gas production with a deadly attack. India buys large quantities of Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) from Qatar, so the petroleum minister will hold important talks about the supply of LNG there.
Why is Hardeep Singh's visit to Qatar necessary?
According to the report, India imports about 40 per cent of its LNG needs from Qatar.
