The government of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah may fall in Jammu and Kashmir. The 25 disgruntled MLAs have given an ultimatum to Umar and party president Farooq Abdullah to fulfill their demands. The MLAs have demanded the removal of CM's advisor Nasir Sogmi from the post, withdrawal of the road construction department from Deputy CM Surinder Chaudhary or his removal from the post and probe into the corruption allegations levelled against the people of the government. The disgruntled MLAs held 5 secret meetings between October 30 and November 5. During this time, the MLAs formulated a strategy for demands and dialogue with the party. In the last 5 years, there has been a split between 3 major regional parties in the country. Srinagar MP Mehndi also quits National Conference Srinagar MP Agha Ruhullah Mehndi resigned from the party on Tuesday. During this, he said, "This is a decision of freedom. I represent the legacy of a martyr and the descendants of holy blood. I am signing my freedom document. I am not a part of the National Conference from 2:40 pm today. After that, on Thursday, the Lok Sabha Speaker accepted Agha's resignation. He is no longer an MP. In the cabinet expansion on October 27, four National Conference MLAs — Ali Mohammad Sagar, Mir Saifullah, Shamima Firdous and Altaf Ahmad Kaloo — were made ministers. Independent MLA Satish Sharma was removed from the cabinet. In this expansion, many senior MLAs could not become ministers, whose names were being discussed. These include Nazir Ahmed Gureji and Mubarak Gul. Later, Farooq Abdullah appointed Mubarak Gul as the party's general secretary in place of Ali Mohammad Sagar. There are a total of 95 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly (90 elected + 5 nominees). All the seats to be nominated are vacant. Therefore, 46 seats are needed for a majority in the House. At present, the NC alliance has 53 seats. But if 25 MLAs resign, the number of seats of the coalition will be reduced to 28. In 5 years, the country's 3 major regional parties were divided... Shiv Sena: In June 2022, Eknath Shinde rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray and took most of the party's MLAs with him. Shinde broke the alliance with the Congress-NCP and formed a new government in Maharashtra with the BJP. Later, the Election Commission considered Eknath Shinde's faction as the real Shiv Sena and gave him the name of the party and the 'arrow-bow' election symbol. NCP: In July 2023, Ajit Pawar rebelled against his uncle Sharad Pawar, due to which the party split into two factions. Ajit Pawar joined the BJP-Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra with his supportive MLAs and became a minister in the government. TMC: In 2026, there was also a big split in Mamata Banerjee's party TMC. A large rebel group of MLAs and MPs led by Ritabrata Banerjee separated from Mamata Banerjee. Due to this, the Election Commission froze the name and old election symbol of the TMC and gave different names to the two groups.
