Today he regrets that period. The early years in the United States were very difficult. The parents gave up everything for a better future. His father quit his job in India and started working at a petrol pump, while his mother worked as a labourer in a factory. The family spent their days in poverty. Despite these circumstances, Jasmine did not give up on music. He got recognition from the song 'Yaar Na Mile' from 'Kick', but the songs of 'Dhurandhar' took him to new heights. Here's what you need to know about Jasmine Sandals' career and personal life. Jasmine Sandles was born on September 4, 1985 in Jalandhar, Punjab. He comes from a typical Punjabi family. From an early age, he got his singing inspiration from his mother, who encouraged him to sing. She started singing on stage right from her school days and started writing songs at an early age. Traveling to the United States: Searching for a Bright Future At the age of 12-13, his family moved to California. He also lived in New York in his early days. He didn't know English, so he had to enroll in a local school. His father was in a high-profile job in India and a law school topper, but gave up everything for the better future of his children. Conflict in America: Poverty, Small Work and Difficult Situations The family in America saw difficult situations. The family of six lived in a small room and depended on food coupons. My father had to do odd jobs, even working at a petrol pump. My mother worked as a labourer in a factory and plucked cherries. Inclination towards studies and music Jasmine completed her studies in the United States. He did his graduation in psychology and studied pre-law, but his mind was always in music. Jasmine Sandals said on Ranveer Allahabadia's podcast, "We have reached New York. I didn't know English. Whichever local school it was, Dad got us admitted there. We lived in a small apartment that was meant for a poor family and there were six of us. My dad used to do a high profile job in India. He was a law school topper, but when he goes to America, he has to study or work for 3-4 years. So Dad sacrificed his whole life for us. I think his first job in America was at a petrol pump where he filled petrol. I remember, he was sitting in the snow and had no shoes on his feet. When asked, he said that snow shoes are very expensive. We used to live in homes that were meant for people living below the poverty line, so we used to get food coupons. My mother used to work in a factory and pluck cherries. She used to work there as a labourer. When we moved to California, my father re-entered the legal profession and became an interpreter. After this, our financial condition improved. Relationship breakdown, father's death and a broken mind Jasmine admitted that her and her parents' relationship has not been easy. "My relationship with my family has been full of ups and downs. A lot was breaking me inside. When I was 23, my father passed away. At that time I was doing well in my career but broke down from within. Alcohol addiction and regret This pain pushed Jasmine to a point where she lost herself. "I drowned myself in alcohol," he says. I used to drink a lot and still regret it. He was my support at that time. All my life I wandered in search of peace and home that I did not find as a child. Feeling weak and helpless, my mother and family helped me a lot in my recovery. They loved me even when I was broken. My biggest fight was with myself. It was difficult at the time because as soon as the day started I would get stuck in old habits. I prayed to God – 'Please save me, just give me one more chance. I was feeling very helpless. It takes courage to say 'no' to things to come out of that period. Family support is necessary, don't run away from them. When I removed the toxic stuff from my life, it was as if I had found a new lease of life." Between 2007 and 2010, she performed in clubs, cafes and local events in Delhi. There was neither a big platform nor a strong support system in that period, but it did not give up. She used to write, compose and record songs herself and make mixed CDs. She used to sell it for 20 rupees so that more people could reach her music. It was this struggle and hard work that became the foundation of his career. 'Pink' emerged as a music style, with a fusion of western beats and Punjabi lyrics, which appealed to youngsters. His voice, bold style and attitude gave him a distinct identity. After this success, she got the tag of 'Pink Queen', which is still her identity today. The song made it popular not only in India but also among international listeners.
