Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming Sri Lanka Test series. He has not yet fully recovered from a left knee injury sustained during the ODI series against England, which is why he is not considered eligible for selection. The men's selection committee has named Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Aqib Nabi in the Indian Test squad in place of Bumrah. This is the first selection of the 29-year-old fast bowler in the senior Indian team
Aqib Nabi has taken a total of 104 wickets in the last two Ranji Trophy seasons. In the 2025-26 season, he took 60 wickets and played a key role in Jammu and Kashmir's maiden Ranji Trophy title. He was also part of the India A team that recently toured Sri Lanka where he took six wickets in two first-class matches. The BCCI made the announcement in a statement on Monday.

Bumrah got injured during the ODI series in England and then went to the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. He has not fully recovered and has been ruled out of the Test series.
BCCI informed
BCCI wrote in its statement, "Jasprit Bumrah has not fully recovered from a left knee injury sustained during the ODI series against England and has been ruled out of the Test series against Sri Lanka." Announcing Nabi's name, the BCCI wrote, "The men's selection committee has selected Aaqib Nabi as Bumrah's replacement. A bowler from Jammu and Kashmir has been included in Team India for the first time."

India will play a two-match Test series on a tour of Sri Lanka. The first match will be played in Galle from August 15 to 19. The second Test will be played in Colombo from August 23 to 27. Team India will play a three-day practice match from August 7 to 9. Team India will leave for Sri Lanka on the 4th.
