A poor family living in the Rohidas suburb area of Junagadh city has been devastated. The young son, who had gone to work as a labourer, has gone missing under mysterious circumstances and an unknown person risked his life for Rs. A sensational case has come to light that he is demanding a ransom of Rs 50,000. When the mother reached the A-Division police station in Junagadh in the hope of justice, she was allegedly humiliated by the police who were supposed to be the protector of the police instead of helping her. On the one hand, the kidnapper is putting mental pressure on his son by showing his delicate condition through a video call, while on the other hand, the irresponsible statements of the police that "stop crying" and "your son is doing drama" have raised many questions against humanity and the working style of khaki. 'There's nothing we can do about it'
Talking to PSI Solanki of A Division Police Station, he said, "On the 7th of last month, Vijay Sondarwa's mother Meenaben Sondarva came here and applied but we cannot do anything in this matter. Young man mysteriously goes missing amid financial crisis
Vijay, son of Minaben Soundarwa of Junagadh, had gone to Kutch for labour work due to financial constraints, but due to lack of work there, he left for Ahmedabad via Rajkot. After reaching Ahmedabad, contact with Vijay was lost, but soon he received a call from Vijay's mobile number to Meenaben, the mother of an unknown Hindi-speaking man. The man claimed that Vijay is with him and his health is extremely fragile, he is vomiting blood and has a fever. When the terrified mother pleaded with her son to be taken to the hospital, the man put a condition that if Vijay wanted to get treatment, he would have to send money first. This sequence of events is directly pointing to a larger criminal conspiracy or extortion. Threatening video call demands Rs 50,000 ransom
In order to assure her about her son's condition, an unidentified person made a video call to Meenaben in which Vijay was found lying on a bench in a semi-conscious state. The phone was disconnected immediately after the scene was shown. Later, the contractor with whom Vijay was working with Govindbhai also came to know about it. When Govindbhai contacted the man, he sent a scanner and pressed him to transfer Rs 50,000 immediately. Govindbhai insisted on talking to Vijay but the man refused to talk to him and repeatedly disconnected the phone. The next day, when he called again and inquired about the arrangement of the money, the man increased the mental pressure on the helpless mother. Police accused of being rude instead of helping the victim's mother
Seeing the threat to her son's life, Meenaben immediately rushed to the A-Division police station in Junagadh to seek justice. He informed through a written application that his son was missing and that an unknown person was holding him hostage and demanding a ransom of Rs 50,000. However, instead of helping, the PSO on duty at the police station behaved very rude and insensitive. The victim's mother alleged that the police threatened her by saying, "Such cases come every day, stop crying and washing". Not only this, the police also stigmatized the character of the missing son by saying, "If your son was drinking, then he did not do such a drama to extort money, right?" If he goes missing from Rajkot, he will have to go to Rajkot, says police
At the police station, when the unknown person called again, the PSO snatched the mobile from Meenaben and threatened the man, saying, "I am speaking from the police station, who are you?" Even after the incident, the police raised their hands instead of conducting any immediate investigation. The victim's family was dispatched saying that since the youth was missing from Rajkot, the Junagadh police could not do anything about it and would have to go to Rajkot for investigation. Thus, despite the opportunity to catch the culprit, the apathy of the police and the loophole in the rules have made the life of a helpless mother more vulnerable. Mother's life in search of missing son
Even though it has been more than five days since her son Vijay went missing, the victim's mother has lost her life due to the apathy of the police and the technical helplessness of "getting the location only if the mobile is switched on". Now that suspicious mobile number is closed, the poor family is reeling from the imminent threat to their son's life. On the one hand, the government claims for women's safety and speedy justice, on the other hand, the insensitive attitude of the Junagadh police like "stop crying" is proving to be an embarrassment for the entire system. Many questions have been raised about the functioning of the police, which raises its hands instead of taking the help of the cyber cell in serious crimes like kidnapping and extortion. Now the family's last hope is that only the top police officials will intervene in the matter and bring Vijay back safely.
