The incident at the Luwaria embankment near Antalia village in Lilia taluka of Amreli district is not just an accident, but the culmination of human interference in the privacy of lions. Ground analysis of Divya Bhaskar Digital has revealed shocking details that the area had become an illegal 'epicentre of lion darshan' for lion viewers for a long time. During the monsoon season, when the lions have a mating period, 21-year-old Sohail Memon lost his life due to harassing the lions by ignoring the rules. The secret 'epicentre' of Singhdarshan: The long Vidi area of the Khel Luwaria embankment, which is just 500 metres away from the government post, usually falls under the Gir East Dhari division, due to which the Lilia Range Forest Department cannot take direct action. Taking advantage of this legal limitation, many people from Damnagar, Liliya and Lathi diocese used to come here every evening to have an illegal lion darshan. Surprisingly, the forest department outpost is located just 500 metres away from where the incident took place, yet people were openly entering the restricted reserve forest. Nar Singh, the hero of social media, has been taken down by hundreds of people Nar Singh, who carried out the live video, was extremely popular as "Bhagat" in the entire diocese. Due to his massive appearance and strong territorial power, he did not allow any other lions to enter the surrounding area. The people of the area were so accustomed to 'Bhagat' Singh that hundreds of people have gone very close to him in the past and taken 'live videos' and made them viral on social media. The forest department has sent the mobile phones of the deceased and the youths with him to the FSL, as it is suspected that these youths also took videos of the lion before the attack. After the incident, the suspicion has been strengthened as two other youths have deleted the data format of their mobile phones. Why don't the locals speak up despite knowing the truth? When the team of Divya Bhaskar Digital tried to talk to the locals from Antalya to Luwaria, they found a shocking thing. Though the locals are aware of the illegal lion sightings that take place here regularly, they are not ready to say anything for fear of legal action from the forest department. Some people are even rushing to defend this illegal activity. According to lion lovers, getting close to a lion when it is mating is tantamount to suicide, so the fault is not of the lion but of the deformity of the man. Why are the Savajos being aggressive in Saurashtra? Incidents of human deaths by wildlife have been on the rise alarmingly for the past few days in Saurashtra and surrounding areas. The latest incident at the Luwaria embankment is another big addition to the caravan of incidents that have happened earlier. Forest Minister Arjun Modhwadia said that the monsoon is the time for Asiatic lions to mat. At this time there is a restriction on safari and forest entry. Illegal lion sightings can have serious and fatal consequences. The forest department will set a strict precedent in this regard. MP Parimal Nathwani said that the lion and man of Gir have coexisted for years, but harassing a lion at the time of meeting is unforgivable. People have to understand that such activities put their lives at risk. After a lot of hard work, the forest department has tranquilized the 'Bhagat' lion and put him in a cage at the Krakach Animal Care Center, but the question arises that how long will the youth continue to destroy their lives and the existence of lions like the pride of Gir in the fascination of likes and videos on social media? ----- also read: 4 lions trapped in Amreli after lion attack Parkash Chandra was killed in a lion attack near Kovaya village in Rajula taluka of Amreli district on the night of May 16. In three separate incidents in Khambha and Rajula areas of Amreli district and Mahuva area of Bhavnagar, the manner in which a lion attacked a human being and tried to prey on it has left both the state government and the forest department worried. In all the three incidents, the forest department is now investigating whether there has been any abnormal change in the behaviour of the lion, which is more similar to the attack on a tiger or leopard in the Sundarbans in terms of hunting methods. Wildlife experts also believe that the lions of Gir cannot be declared man-eaters on the basis of a single incident. Nevertheless, the attack caused by the intention of the victim is significant and needs to be investigated for its scientific causes. This is because the increasing number of lions in Gir, their constant contact with human settlements and whether there is any change in their behaviour amid the changing conditions, will be investigated.
