Heavy rains in Mahisagar district led to overflowing of a gorge in Suva village of Lunawada. As a result, water has entered many areas of the village. Roads are flooded in Cadas River. This has affected the connectivity of the village. Heavy rains also lashed Kothamba, including Lunawada, Virpur and Balasinor in the district. Around 25 to 30 people have been evacuated to safer places.
Around eight houses were submerged after water entered Nayak Falia in Suva village of Lunawada. Seeing the gravity of the situation, the administration immediately launched rescue operations. Around 25 to 30 people were shifted to safer places with the help of fire team, local administration and administrative team. All those trapped in the village are safe
Apart from this, around 100 people who had come from areas including Vadodara to get medicine from Ayurvedic Vaidya in Suva village are also stranded in the village. However, all of them are said to be safe. They are unable to get out due to waterlogging on the roads leading to the village. The administration, in coordination with the Sarpanch of the village, has made arrangements for safe shelter and necessary facilities for these people. Teams of administration reached the spot
Mahisagar District Collector Arpit Sagar, District Police Chief Safin Hassan, District Development Officer Yuvraj Siddharth, Lunawada Provincial Officer Umesh Shah and Lunawada Mamlatdar rushed to the spot. They are reviewing the situation and constantly monitoring the relief and rescue operations. Several places in Kothamba were flooded.
Apart from Lunawada, Kothamba taluka also received heavy rains with heavy winds. Several areas, including the bus stand area, have been waterlogged. In low-lying areas, even shops were flooded. As a result, traders have faced a lot of trouble. Vehicular traffic has been affected as roads have been submerged in water. Motorists and locals are facing difficulties. On the other hand, a kutcha house has also collapsed in Rabadia village of Kothamba. Public life has been affected by the downpour. In different parts of the district, people have got relief from the heat, while the atmosphere of happiness is also being seen among the farmers.
