Michael Hussey Australia Cricket Team Consultant: Michael Hussey, who left Chennai Super Kings a few days ago, has joined the Australia team. On Friday, November 6, Cricket Australia released an official statement stating that Michael Hussey has been made an advisor for the 2027 Ashes and next year's ODI World Cup. In this role, Hussey will have the burden on his shoulders to help the management prepare a strong team for the 2027 World Cup.
Hussey's role will not be limited to this. He will also be an advisor to the T20 team. He will also be the advisor of the Australian team for the 2028 T20 World Cup and the Los Angeles Olympics to be held in the same year. After head coach Stephen Fleming left CSK, many changes have been seen in the team's coaching staff. Michael Hussey remained the batting coach of Chennai Super Kings until IPL 2026.
The first big challenge before him will be the T20 series against England, which will start on November 21. After that, he will help the Kangaroo team in preparing for the Test series against New Zealand. When Stephen Fleming became the head coach of the England team after leaving Chennai Super Kings, there was speculation that Michael Hussey could also join him in the coaching staff of the England team. But the legendary cricketer has now got a huge responsibility related to his own national team.
Michael Hussey said that he is very excited to work with the Australian team in a new role. At the same time, the head coach of the Australian team, Andrew McDonald, also welcomed Michael and said that his arrival will be beneficial for the team.
The ODI World Cup will start from October 2 next year, but before that the Australia-England Ashes series will be played in the June-July-August period. Before that, the Kangaroo team also has to come on a tour of India, where a five-Test series will be played between the two. So Michael Hussey and the Australian coaching staff are going to face many big challenges.
