The giant Machchhu 2 Dam near Jodhpar village in Morbi district is a boon for Morbi and Malia talukas. However, this time the Machchhu 2 dam was only 40% full till the last few days. The dam was 70% full yesterday morning. In the last 24 hours, 90 per cent of the dam has been filled with 20 per cent increase in water and the dam is likely to overflow by almost night. Meghraja's last batting is underway and it is raining heavily in some areas. However, in Morbi district this year, due to slow incessant rainfall, the local reservoirs are slowly receiving rainwater. Similarly, talking about Machchhu 2 Dam, which is a boon for Morbi and Malia talukas, the work of replacing the gates of Machchhu 2 Dam was done this year and out of 38 old gates were replaced simultaneously. After the doors were replaced, while the final testing work was going on, the cloud king had arrived. As a result, the water inside the Machhu 2 dam had to be released into the river. After that, the doors were closed after final testing. After that, the cloud king slowly melted the clouds, so that the inflow of water was slow. As of 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, only 60 per cent of the water level inside the Machhu 2 dam was there. However, the weather changed from Friday evening and the rain started slowly as predicted by the Meteorological Department. It rained in all five talukas of Morbi district. Similarly, due to the rains in the catchment area of Machhu 2 dam and the basin on top of it, the inflow of water in Machhu 2 dam started and the dam was filled to 70% of the water level on Sunday morning. At 8 am on Monday, the Machchu 2 dam in Morbi is 90 percent full, so a total of 29 villages, including 20 in Morbi taluka and 9 in Malia taluka, have been alerted and no one has been instructed by the administration not to go to the river bed. According to sources in the irrigation department, the Machhu 1 dam has been overflowing since 12 noon yesterday. At present, Machhu 1 Dam overflow is still underway by 4 inches. 1757 cusecs of water is being released from the dam. Apart from this, the inflow of rainwater in the catchment area of Machhu 2 dam is also currently underway. At present, 5272 cusecs of water is being received in Machhu 2 Dam and if such water inflow continues, then by tonight, the Machchhu 2 dam in Morbi will be 100% full and there are signs of overflowing. However, the irrigation department has already alerted the people of all the villages coming downstream of the dam to avoid any untoward incident.
