Police have arrested an accused in connection with the incident in which a tempo driver was beaten up by men on a moped without a number for not giving him a side while honking his horn frequently in Chikhli Bazaar area. Tempo driver Dhavalbhai Nileshbhai Ahir (resident of Atgam, Ghoda Tekri Phalia, near Moti Naher, Valsad) was on his way to Atgam via Chikhli after leaving Billimore on Sunday. In the meantime, the driver of a moped without a number coming from behind could not give way due to traffic as he approached the house. The tempo driver went ahead and stopped the tempo but the moped rider did not stand there. Later, when they reached the bridge of the Kharera river at Maliadhara on Atgam Road, a mob of about 10 to 15 people surrounded the tempo and threw bricks at the tempo. The police registered a case against Prateek Ramesh Halpati, Bhavin Dahya Patel (both residents of Maliadhara, T. Chikhli) and Hemil Dharmesh Patel (resident of Chikhli) on the complaint of Dhaval Ahir. The police arrested Prateek Ramesh Halpati. Both Bhavin Patel and Hemil Patel stayed away from police custody.
