Parth Maheshwari sent to jail in MBBS answer book scam: Court order on completion of remand; Further investigation underway in the case of passing with bogus answer sheets in re-evaluation

The court has sent Parth Maheshwari, an accused in the MBBS first year re-evaluation scam of Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University in Patan, to judicial custody after his remand expired. The Patan B Division police conducted an investigation to get to the root of the scam during the remand. In the examination department of the university, the original answer sheets were missing in the re-evaluation from 27-8-2018 to 30-8-2021 and bogus answer sheets were placed in their place. In this way, a case was registered for giving illegal marks and preparing false re-assessment records. During the investigation of a complaint registered in the case on 17/3/2025, the police arrested Parth Ashokbhai Kasturchand Maheshwari, 27, a resident of Tirupatirajnagar Highway, Palanpur, on 27/10/2026. He was produced before the Patan court and remanded till 2/11/2026. On completion of the remand, the magistrate ordered him to be sent to judicial custody. While seeking remand, the police said that Parth had written the answer sheet with his seat number on his own or had it written with someone else, it is yet to be investigated. It is also being investigated which employee of the university he was acquainted with and through whom he came in contact. Investigations are underway to find out who played a role in passing the exam, where the conspiracy was hatched to change the original answer sheets in connivance with other failed students and from where the new answer sheets were brought. The process of finding out how the original answer sheets were destroyed and where the missing answer sheets are is also under investigation. In the re-evaluation, it was found that a false assessment record was prepared by changing the original answer sheets of the students with seat numbers 391, 392 and 406. There are a total of six accused in the case. Earlier, Parimal Patel, Kanu Chaudhary and Rajdeep Kodiyatar were arrested.
