The elections held for the 15 seats of the governing body of Patan Nagarik Cooperative Bank are witnessing a fierce contest between the progressive and change panels. A total of 35 candidates are in the fray. Long queues of members were seen at polling stations since morning. As many as 31,187 voters will decide the future of the bank. Voting and counting of votes will be held today. The election is being held for 15 seats of directors of the bank, in which a total of 35 candidates, including two rival panels, are in the fray. A progressive and transformational panel has come face to take over the management of a reputed cooperative bank in Patan. There is a lot of tug-of-war in the election as both the panels include strong candidates from different sectors. Till the last phase of the election, there was a stormy campaign by both the parties to win over the entire panel. As part of the election of the board of directors of Citizen Bank, the election will be held from 8 am to 2 pm on Sunday. Voting is being carried out at the high school's polling station. A total of 23 booths were set up to ensure that an estimated 31,187 members of the bank could cast their votes. As many as 89 personnel have been deployed for the smooth conduct of the entire election process. According to the election rules, every voter has to cast a mandatory 15 votes for the bank's board of directors. In this prestigious electoral battle, the Change Panel has entered the election fray with the symbol of 'Rising Sun'. In support of the panel, 3 other independent candidates — Ajaybhai Patel, Bhavin Patel and Ashokbhai Patel — have also joined the 'Deepak' symbol. While the Progressive Panel as the ruling party is contesting the election with the symbol of 'scales'. The counting of votes will begin at 4 pm on Sunday. By late at night, the picture will become clear whether the rising sunlight of the change panel will shine or the scales of the progressive panel will bend.
