In the third season of the web series "The Night Agent" on Netflix these days, the US President and his wife are directly surrounded by suspicion and accusations. It is known that he has taken money for his election campaign from such suspicious people, who are also associated with terrorist blasts. There are more such films or web series in the entertainment industry of America these days, in which the highest level leaders, officers or intelligence officers are seen betraying their own country. These films or series are being made in America, which is considered to be the most successful democracy in the world. Clearly, there is disillusionment among ordinary Americans with the leadership that comes out of the democratic system, which is reflected in these films or series. The new triangle of white racism, military supremacy, and frustrated masculinity that seems to be developing in this Trump-era system is probably yet to be made into films. The chilling truth unfolding from the Epstein Files in the midst of the US attack on Iran shows the appalling hypocrisy of civilization we are living in. A cursory glance at the names in the Epstein files shows how the world's most powerful people — political, economic and intellectual standard-setters — are on this blacklist, and yet no system is able to cut a hair on them. On the contrary, they are attacking Iran to hide their misdeeds or to slow down their discussion, allowing the proceedings of parliaments to be stalled and the cases pending in the courts. But these powerful men remain each other's friends, supporting each other's actions and quietly strengthening the system that can make their fortress more impenetrable. Is this a failure of modern democracy? Is this a perversion of the vast capitalism, which is committing all the sins of prideful of its inevitability in the absence of a parallel order? Is it a reflection of the new consumerist trend, in which everything is for consumption, entertainment, personal gratification and gratification? These questions may seem simplistic, but it is true that all these systems are ultimately taking the world to the brink of war and destruction, wrapped in the bright foils of so-called development. What precedes this catastrophe is the appalling disparity — if not in the world, then certainly in our country — the more billionaires are growing, the poorer the poor. There are more questions. Can we get rid of this situation? Or do we even want to get rid of it? In the context of our country, on the one hand, there is a fascinating story of development, some dimensions of which are seen in glittering markets, flyovers and various types of cars, and on the other hand, there is the reality of a society moving towards fanaticism, fundamentalism, hate-fueled communalism, in which temples, mosques, mazars, babas, saints, mahants and monasteries are getting the most discussion and acceptance. Among them is a well-to-do consumer class, which needs all kinds of cream for itself. If this comment seems hopeless, where can you find a glimmer of hope in it? Of course, she must be somewhere, because there is still so much light left in the pores of such an old civilization and culture that it can show a way. Is this Gandhi's way? Can it be formed by abstinence and repentance? But are we even close to that restraint and repentance? This silence should also gradually involve any resistance. Dr. Lohia did not just say that despair also has duties! (These are the author's own views)
