A 'Z' shaped underbridge is being planned under the gate opposite P D Malviya College in Rajkot South and in the near future, the administration has started considering the construction of an 'H' shaped underbridge at the gate near Rajkamal Petrol Pump at the end of Dhebar Road. On the other hand, the municipal corporation has published a tender for the construction of an overbridge near Ranuja Mandir on Kotharia Main Road in Ward No. 18. However, after the tender was announced earlier, a second attempt had to be made. It is estimated to cost around Rs 17 crore. The bridge here is only 8 meters, now a 22-meter bridge is going to be built here. Thousands of motorists will benefit from the construction of this bridge. Divya Bhaskar has come up with the design of what this new bridge will look like. A 22-metre bridge will be built in front of the Ranunja temple in place of the existing 8-metre bridge
The Kotharia area has developed a lot in the last few years. From residential to industrial development, it is going on. Ward No. There is a small bridge near the Ranunja temple on the 18th Kotharia Main Road. In some parts of Kotharia Main Road, the width of TP, DP Road is being increased from 24.00 meters to 45.00 meters. So due to the old bridge near the Ranuja temple, a bottleneck-like situation is created. In order to solve this problem, a provision was made in the budget regarding the bridge. It was suggested that the bridge should be made three times wider, i.e. almost new. This is the TP scheme on the north side of the existing bridge and the draft TP scheme on the south side of the bridge is not allowed. This road is of 24.00 meter road. At present, there is rainwater inflow from two sides on the west side of the bridge, and the east side of the bridge is downstream, the water moves in the east direction. Since there is a water body here and no proper diversion can be given nearby, the design of the existing bridge with 8 meters mixed-lane carriageway, footpath was approved in the Stay Committee to maintain the traffic movement. The cost of the bridge is estimated to be Rs 17 crore.
In a telephonic conversation with Divya Bhaskar, engineer of the West Zone of the Municipal Corporation, Rishibhai said that a diversion will be constructed next to the first existing bridge. After this, the old bridge will be demolished and replaced by a bigger and wider new bridge. The bridge will construct 3 boxes of 8 x 4 meters and 22 meters wide. The road to Tirupati Headwork will be 77.40 metres and the road to Ranuja Temple will be 101.24 metres. At present, the estimated cost of the bridge work is Rs. Rs 16.54 crore and PMC fee of Rs 16.54 crore. It is likely to cost around Rs 17.05 crore. Considering the approach of this bridge, the height cannot be increased, the design has been prepared to maintain the height of the 'Bridge Over Water Body'. Considering all the pros and cons of the inspection report of the old bridge, the need for vehicles from the six-lane National Highway to the new ring road under construction, and the movement of vehicles according to the 45.00 meter wide right of way in front of the same road, stability in case of maintaining the old bridge, it was decided to construct a new over bridge after the diversion. Under which the tender process has been completed. Now the work on this will start soon. With the construction of the bridge, 4000 motorists will get traffic relief every day
At present, more than 4,000 vehicles pass through the bridge every day. The bridge is extremely useful for all motorists coming towards HUDCO Chowk and Gondal in Rajkot, as well as for motorists coming towards Ranuja Temple and Tirupati Headworks. A large number of heavy vehicles also pass through this bridge. And since water comes from three sides under the bridge, a special design has been prepared in such a way that there is no damage to the bridge due to this water. Due to this, this bridge has a different significance than all the bridges that have been built in Rajkot so far.
