Is Akshaye Khanna a bigger star than Ranveer Singh?: Shobha Dey questions the promotion of 'Dhurandhar', says 'Akshay's roles and dance moves were exaggerated'
Writer-columnist Shobha Dey has questioned the hype surrounding Akshaye Khanna's role in the film 'Dhurandhar'. In a podcast, he said that Akshaye Khanna's roles and dance moves have been shown to be very exaggerated. "It's like Akshay is a bigger star than Ranveer. Sharing her opinion about the film on the 'Rediff Originals Podcast', Shobha Dey said, "I thought the kind of atmosphere that was created, was a bit manipulative. It was as if Akshaye Khanna was a bigger star than Ranveer and he had handled the entire film on his own. His dance was also performed in a special way. Though the dance was really cool and went viral, the way it was promoted seemed like a well-thought-out strategy." 'No one asked Hrithik about politics' While the podcast referred to Hrithik Roshan's statement about the film 'Dhurandhar', in which he said that he liked the film but he does not agree with his politics. Shobha Dey gave her reaction to it. "No one asked Hrithik if he agreed with the politics of the film. According to her, it was her own choice that she commented on this aspect." It was not necessary to give an opinion on politics," he said. After watching the film, Hrithik wrote on social media platform Instagram that he liked the storytelling of the film. He said that he does not agree with the politics of the film but as a student of cinema he learnt a lot from it. Hrithik wrote, "I love cinema. I like people who are completely immersed in the story. 'Dhurandhar' is an example of this. I liked the way he told his story. I don't agree with his politics. However, it cannot be ignored." Hrithik praised Aditya and Ranveer, however, a few hours later he reposted on social media platforms X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram. He heaped praise on director Aditya Dhar and actor Ranveer Singh. He wrote that the film is still running in his mind. 'Dhurandhar' was a blockbuster film of 2025 and was released on December 5. In this, Ranveer Singh became an Indian spy. Apart from Ranveer, the film also starred Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan. The film grossed over Rs 1300 crore worldwide.
